Yellow for Gold Medalists, White for Silver Medalists and Red for Bronze Medalists. Calla Lillies were presented to each medal winner at The Commonwealth Games 2002 in Manchester, England. It has often been used in many paintings, Diego Rivera's The Flower Vendor, being the most well known.

This lily is also symbolic of marriage, purity, faith and innocence, qualities that are associated with wedding ceremonies and because of its white colour and its trumpet-like shape, likened to a woman's shape. The name of the genus was given as a tribute to Italian botanist Giovanni Zantedeschi. It is a member of the Zantedeschia genus. This elegant lily signifies magnificent beauty and is native to Southern Africa.
